​State School is Eric Styrcula's passion project -- who is an emerging voice in alternative rock, known for their ability to weave intricate guitar riffs with raw, vulnerable storytelling. Drawing inspiration from artists like John Mayer and Mt. Joy, Eric crafts songs that feel like intimate conversations—exploring the struggles, triumphs, and quiet moments of life in your 20s.

Music has always been a part of Eric’s life. As a lifelong guitarist, they found solace in the strings, but it wasn’t until the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic that songwriting became their true creative outlet. What started as a way to process life’s uncertainties quickly evolved into a full-fledged passion. After sharing their songs at local open mics, Eric realized the power of connection that music can bring—and they’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.

Their debut EP, Not That Deep, released in May 2024, is a heartfelt collection of songs that captures the beautiful chaos of young adulthood. Each track offers a window into the balancing act of work, relationships, and self-discovery, inviting listeners to find pieces of their own stories within the lyrics.

Whether it’s through their soulful melodies, reflective lyrics, or dynamic guitar work, Eric strives to create music that resonates on a deeply personal level. Their hope is simple: to remind listeners that they’re not alone in the messiness of life—and that sometimes, it’s really not that deep.
